The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Ana Revenco, was invited to the third edition of the DECODIFICAT podcast. During the podcast, the minister discussed in detail the internal security situation in the Republic of Moldova, the role of law enforcement agencies, and the measures taken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in the context of current regional and internal challenges.
The minister stressed that state security remains a strategic priority, especially in an unstable regional environment marked by hybrid risks, attempts at destabilization, and informational pressure. In this regard, the MAI is working to strengthen the operational capacities of the Police, Border Police, and other subordinate structures, with an emphasis on prevention, rapid response, and inter-institutional cooperation.
An important point of the intervention concerned combating attempts at internal destabilization, including through illegally organized protests, non-transparent financing, and information manipulation. Ana Revenco explained that state institutions closely monitor such risks and intervene strictly within the limits of the law, respecting the fundamental rights of citizens, but without tolerating actions that could endanger public order or national security.
The minister also spoke about the reform within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, noting that the modernization of law enforcement agencies is an ongoing process focused on professionalization, depoliticization, and increasing public confidence. The importance of staff training, technical equipment, and alignment with European standards in the field of security and public order was highlighted.
Another topic discussed was international cooperation, particularly with European partners. Ana Revenco emphasized the external support provided to the Republic of Moldova in the field of security, the exchange of information and best practices, as well as their role in strengthening the institutional resilience of the state.
Finally, the minister conveyed a message regarding the responsibility of state institutions to act transparently and firmly, but also the need for society to be accurately informed. She emphasized the importance of combating misinformation and maintaining an open dialogue with citizens in order to prevent manipulation and social polarization.
